Both teams have made an impact on the sport especially when it comes to playing each other, their games are some of the highest viewed on TV, and anticipated of all sports.

They influence the outcomes for post season play until recently, you could always count on those two teams playing each other for the AL Title and a spot in the World Series. In the early days of the MLB the Red Sox were one of the most dominate teams, winning the AL pennants in 1903, 1904, 1912, 1915, 1916 and 1918; totaling 12 AL pennants. Both General Managers and owners were not afraid to spend the money on players that will help them beat each other, and make it through the season and on to the post season and win the World Series. Alex Rodriguez also has a contract for over $150 million over a 6 yr period. So as you can see the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox rivalry has turned out to be one of the most intense in the entire sports world. There have some intense and physical fights between the two teams, from Pedro Martinez throwing down then assistant manager Don Zimmerman, to Roger Clemens fighting Manny Ramirez after being hit by a pitch. This rivalry is what makes sports interesting and shows you the pride that these players have in their team’s history and future. As a fan of the Yankees, I enjoy every game that I watch between these two teams.
